Experience

Paul worked for a global multinational for 14 years, leading teams and businesses in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Australia and japan, specialising in start-ups and turnarounds. Over that phase of his career, he performed roles in marketing, operations, finance and strategy, culminating in the role of GM for a Tokyo-based Retail business. Paul also played leading roles in developing strategy in Europe and across global new markets.

His experiences in leading people through complexity and change inspired him to make the switch into organisational development. As Program Director for a $5m global leadership development program (later written up in the Harvard Business Review) Paul led the development of a major piece of strategy work designed to enhance the capacity of leaders across the group. After migrating to Australia in 2004 he headed up the learning & leadership development functions of an Australian bank.

Paul's enthusiasm for helping people to reach their full potential has led him to focus his energies on executive coaching. Paul heads up Whyte & Coaches research practice and consults in leadership and organisational development.

Paul's coaching style couples deep listening with the ability to create a safe and confidential environment in which to probe and challenge his ability to establish a rapport with clients is supported by his psychotherapeutic background, while his capacity to probe and challenge is derived from his corporate career.

Paul is particularly interested in supporting people to identify their core strengths, their motivation and values, and in facilitating their capacity to influence and engage with others. Paul also enjoys career coaching, drawing on a wider range of approaches.

In his spare time Paul enjoys playing with his four children and writing historical fiction His first two books, 'The Sweet Smell of Decay' and 'A Plague of Sinners', reached the Independent Booksellers top 5 in the UK.
