Experience
Gavin has been a full-time executive coach since 2004, working with EGM, C-suite and senior leaders in the financial services, professional, primary production, manufacturing and public sectors. Gavin held CFO and senior finance roles in businesses in the retail, manufacturing, construction and wholesale sectors. These roles included group and corporate responsibilities to board level.
Gavin’s postgraduate study focused on performance psychology, career transitions, and human behaviour. In 2004, he was awarded a PhD for his work in the study of career transitions in elite sport. He also completed a research Masters in cognitive performance and the course work for a Masters in applied psychology. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
Gavin’s active involvement in research has resulted in academic and popular media publications on the practices that make executive coaching effective. He is a member of the Standards Australia committee that developed the Handbook on Coaching in Organisations. He has presented to such organisations as the Australian Psychological Society and Melbourne Business School, and at the Australian Human Resources Institute national conference. As part of his professional development, Gavin completed 18 months of volunteer work and training at Relationships Australia, three years’ work in career coaching and transition, and training programs in group work and clinical supervision.
Gavin coaches senior executives to increase their personal efficacy in complex and demanding environments and to realise their potential, with a particular emphasis on developing interpersonal effectiveness.
