Experience
Ernie began his career as a psychologist at Victoria University, one of the largest tertiary institutions in Australia with campuses across the globe.
He soon assumed senior management responsibilities for a range of cross functional university services. For four years he was a member of the University Council involved in making strategic decisions about the future of the institution.
In 2005 he joined a senior team of aid workers from Oxfam GB who were deployed to Indonesia following the Asian tsunami. As an HR specialist his role was to support several thousand aid workers who were helping the survivors of the tsunami. He designed programs, mobilised resources, managed and implemented services and provided high-level advice to other aid agencies. Because his programs were embedded in the rescue and recovery phase of the humanitarian response, they were regarded as ground breaking. Today his approach is adopted by many aid agencies as standard operating practice
Over the last seven years he has been working with senior executives in the Asia Pacific region in a variety of global organisations. He has coached executives from a large mining company with operations in China and Mongolia on leading global teams. In 2010 he delivered leadership programs for executive directors in the health sector in the Pacific. Also in 2010 he designed and delivered leadership and change management programs for a major national broadcaster in the Pacific.
Ernie has a strong interest in global leadership and works with leading institutions around the world on global leadership challenges. He has completed a leadership development program at Harvard University and is currently collaborating with Thunderbird University (Phoenix, Arizona) on global leadership assessment. He also collaborates with the Kozai Group (US) a research institution which specialises in mapping cross cultural capabilities for staff in global organisations. He has similar arrangements with IMD (Lausanne Switzerland).
Ernie lives in the Macedon Ranges, enjoys travelling with his family, follows the school and sporting activities of his sons and helps his wife maintain a 3½ acre garden.
